When I saw this pic, the first thing I thought of was a young De Niro in Taxi Driver, holding his fist over the stove fire.

Colorized of course, but a great pic nonetheless. Karloff was THIN in the first film. You can see he was no longer the starving artist by Bride, but he was also into his mid-40s by then.

He was never heavy, but his build in the first film really helped sell the idea of a reanimated corpse(s).
