    AMC Interview with a Vampire

    th.jpgamc20220908.jpg

Boyfriend & I just watched the AMC Interview with a Vampire episode 1 & 2. While the movie seemed to rush through the book, the TV series takes its time with the story and that is a good thing. The telling the reporter Daniel Molloy about Louis de Pointe du Lac history with Lestat de Lioncourt need to takes its time. I for one cannot wait to watch this series now.

I read the book after seeing the movie as a kid. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Its actually kind of funny how I came across the book. I was in the Navy at the time on an aircraft carrier... tasked with cleaning out one of the birthing areas, this ancient paperback copy of Interview fell in front of me.
I figure, why not... Lets read it.

It's good. I can tell why it's so popular with the goth crowd.

Diamond select Spider-man hands. Long shot, I know...but ya never know..

As a Dark Shadows fan, I had several people in my life that kept encouraging me to read the series (3 books at that point), I just never really made the time. When I heard the movie was in the works, I thought I better read at least the first volume before the movie was released. I figured that once I saw the movie, there would be less incentive for me to read the books.

I read the first three installments, just ripped right through them. Anne Rice was a Dark Shadows fan, and it comes through clearly in the first two novels for sure. Louis is a beautiful homage to Barnabas ("turned" in the same decade, even).

While I was waiting for Tale of The Body Thief to to be released in paperback, I read The Mummy (loved it!). I was disappointed with TOTBT when I finally read it. (After centuries of lamenting Nicki & Louis, a nun? Are you freakin' kidding me?) After that I started in on the Mayfair novels, and really enjoyed those as well.

When the movie came out, I loved it, thought it was very well done. The "Gone With The Wind" of Vampire movies.

I've been excited about the series for quite some time now, though I've remained cautious with my expectations. We do not have AMC+, so we've only seen the first episode. We both really enjoyed it and are looking forward to watching the season unfold. After watching the preview that followed last night's episode, it looks like we are in for a heck of a ride. There are a few things that I don't like about the changes that have been made, mainly the timeline change & the mouthy reporter, but overall it looks very promising.

In the words of Claudia, "I want more".

I am glad to see there hasn't been more of an outcry about the race swap of Louis. I guess the series doesn't have quite the incel fanbase as most comic books.
