The problem with Jeffrey Dean Morgan's slight physical appearance is due to him losing 40 pounds, as he's between roles.

Look at the dude in The Watchman as the Comedian, dude is 6' 2", and had good bulk...

On the other hand, no one seems to bat an eye at both Andrew Lincoln (Rick) and Norman Reedus (Daryl)...as both are shorter and slighter than Morgan (before his weight loss) ...yet they are both considered tough guys...

Everytime I see the guy playing Negan he reminds me of Robert Downey Jr

Height has nothing to do with it. Nor does bulk. Simply ain't buying it.

...and that exactly has been my point from the very beginning...posters here saying he's too slight to be intimidating.

Anyway...I'm enjoying the heck outta the Walking Dead this season...better than the highly overrated and annoying Flash...and the dumbest show on TV right now, Supergirl. Legends of Tomorrow is way better than those two.

                Not this one.

For me it boils down to his acting choices. Just doesn't work for me. There's really no convincing me, unless he changes how he plays the character.

I think JDM's Negan is awesome.

My personal problem is as I stated before his appearance from comic to tv just don't jive.
In the Comice he's big like Bautista big!!!
In the show we get JDM great actor just not scary.
Take the other characters they all resemble their comic counterparts pretty closely Rick,michone,Abraham,Shane,Maggie,glen,Ezekiel...o n and on then Neegan who showed up with Neegans bat and jacket...lol
Even if JDM put on 40lbs I like him to much to believe he could be evil Neegan.
Is JDM doing a great job?...Absolutely and I love every minute but to me he just isn't my "Preconceived "
idea of Neegan, thanks to kirkmans comic visuals.
“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”

Interesting to see a number of review sites are now directly writing Morgan wasthe wrong choice. A few are citing what Fallen pointed out: JDM is not imposing.

In the comics, Negan's groomed looked to me comes across like "fascist meets fetish" behavior. Morgan, though, plays it Kewl...and last night, on the twentieth lean back, it hit me...he's Fonzie as Mad Max.

That is funny, sir. And the lean back just freaking drives me nuts. I nearly shut it off not 5 minutes in when he was doing his schtick at the gate.

This Nerdist recap of last night's episode kinda sums up my feelings about Negan.

Negan on the show just seems to come off as a schoolyard bully leading a bunch of cronies. A deadly bully, but a bully none the less. Same with Dwight. Last week they tried to give him some sympathetic backstory, then he's just as big a d1ck as his boss this week. Make up your mind. For me, no redemption.I'm actually looking forward to the show deviating from the comics in ending these guys for good.
Also at this point we could lose Carl & Daryl, they're adding nothing.
Father Gabriel though, doing his creepiest Igor impression, was a highlight this week. He was the only one on the show doing anything constructive.
And seriously, the whole "notebook of stuff we own" was idiotic. Why would you show anyone that? They had no idea they had such a thing. Ditto Rick's little speeches about why they couldn't just hide some guns. It's silly. One guy on the roof with the bazooka would have ended Negan & his gang outside the gate as soon as they showed up.
