I'm starting to get excited about the new Alien movie.

I'm only confused by some things in Prometheus.

The biggest fault of Prometheus was tying it to ALIEN. It could've and should've been its own thing and it'd be far more compelling.

    Guys, get a room!
    Invite Ridley...

I'll be the only one here who will say that I totally hated Prometheus. But Hector and I discussed all that during its first run (nice sparring match), so I'll not start dissecting it again...

The 3D in Prometheus was stunning. Scott knows how to make jaw-droppingly beautiful films.

is Alien vs Predator considered part of the series? If so, then the Aliens were known about for a loooong time.

I find Prometheus a beautiful film and it is so amazing. The visuals, the story, the characters just keep me captivated. I anxiously await the next chapter. I dont know if I need another Alien specific flick, as I am really looking forward to the continuation of the David and Dr. Shaw storyline.

I loved Prometheus, despite the influences of Damon Lindeloff on the script. It is just a gorgeous movie, that despite being part of a franchise, felt wholly original. For the first time in ages, I got that old "Heavy Metal Magazine" feeling when watching it. I can't wait to see where he takes it next. He can do whatever he wants with it without damaging the original masterpiece... no, wait... Masterpiece.

As for humans in ALIEN being surprised, it could be implied that The Company knew of the existence and they were all set up (except Ash of course).

I think the humans were surprised, but Mother(their computer) and the company didn't seem to be that in the dark about them.

started a topic Who's excited about the next Alien movie?

Who's excited about the next Alien movie?

So Alien Covenant is supposed to happen ten years after Prometheus and 18 years before the original Alien.
Scott promises to feature all the stages of the Alien, and more "gross out" than the original.
Seems like he's trying to surpass himself.
But it does make me wonder: if the prequels need to surpass the original (like they tried in SW) won't that hurt the impact of the original?
