From what I understand, the bite of a walker causes a really bad infection cuz, well, they're dead and rotting and full of yucky stuff. It's not, as we all know, that they are spreading a zombie virus. So, as has been pointed out already, in Hershel's case they amputated the leg before the infection could spread into the rest of his body.Comment

Well yeah, in reality sure, but we are talking the zombie apocalypse here.Originally posted by Nostalgiabuffthe reality though, is that any bite would be fatal, by the time they amputate anything, the infection would have already spread through the body with the flow of the blood

Yet Walker blood is perfectly safe...as gallons of it has splattered all over eyes and mouths of people...even on opened wounds from other types of injuries, causing zero harm...
...I still don't get it.
Any biologists and chemists in the house?

Hershell was bitten, and the infection must have traveled in his body almost immediately. It took them a minute or two to cut off his leg, right?
So I still feel Eastman could have been helped. Hershell's injury was way more traumatic.
I've been saying it from episode 1 now: these idiots should be wearing protection. They're asking for it.
And they should take care of their pets better. Put a lock on that cage. Close the bloody door. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's goat neglect....

That's not really how infections work. They don't travel that fast through your bloodstream. That's why it worked with Hershel.Comment

the suspense is killing me as they drag out the fate of Glenn, but these are probably a couple of good solid character driven episodes before we're thrown back into what appears to be another emotional roller coaster.
Any bets on the fates of Daryl, Abraham and Sasha?Comment

Agreed that tonight's seemed to be another "breather" episode and we did learn a couple of important things. I thought for sure it would end on Maggie and/or Aaron seeing a flare off in the distance, though. Next week's episode looks to be a bit more Darryl-centric, which would be good 'cause old Darryl hasn't done too much yet this season...the suspense is killing me as they drag out the fate of Glenn, but these are probably a couple of good solid character driven episodes before we're thrown back into what appears to be another emotional roller coaster.
