Incredibly Strange Film Show: Ray Denis Steckler

Unfortunately, Part 1 is blocked for some reason. I'm a fan of this guy, i even have stuff like the "Lemon Grove Kids" and "Rat Phink a Boo Boo" somewhere.

His film making is not unlike three cord "garage rock" in that it probably inspired hundreds of people to do their own productions.

Ah! Rat Pfink a Boo Boo. The original "The Room."
If I had only spent a tenth of the time studying Physics that I spent learning Star Wars and Baseball trivia, I would have won the Nobel Prize.

Unlike the Room, Steckler never shied from the fact that it was sloppy. Wiseau wants everyone to believe he's a genius.

Man, first time I saw Rat Pfink a Boo Boo I lost it! And Lemon Grove Kids is just, just...I have no words. I always wished I had a chance to visit the video store in Vegas that he used to own.

In '91, I tracked down a copy of Rat Phink at a Blockbuster just above Dundas and Bay. Made my girlfriend wait in the card (i double parked and she got flack) and then we watched the movie. She dumped me a couple of days later...

In checking his Wikipedia entry, I noted that he also produced a 1972 film named "Sexual Satanic Awareness" and sometimes used the pseudonym "Sven Hellstrom".

It's possible that he was actually a misunderstood avant-garde Dadaist. Or maybe not.

Steckler movies were like finding gold back in the day.

No connection between the two events, I'm sure.
