The characters are so well-written. The attacks are so scary and primal. The humor and warmth injected into the performances. The music is perfect, and transcends the film. The editing is spot-on... not a frame is wasted. It's a monster movie with heart that makes you want to cheer by the end. It has you laughing and screaming.

I just love the scene when, during the barrel chase, Hooper remarks "Fast fish", and suddenly, Brody begins to smile. The music changes, and what was a terror film suddenly becomes a seafaring adventure movie.

    It is a perfect film.

Being 10 years old when I seen it new in the theatre I was the perfect age to get the full thrilling effects.

Before that the scariest animal movies I've ever seen were Willard or Night of the Grizzly - both don't even come close to Jaws

    Why do people like Jaws?

I was bored to death watching it in the theater. I thought Orca was better, but still super boring. I really don't like ocean based movies. Except maybe the Seventh Voyage.
