    Thriller with Boris Karloff

My lovely wife gifted me a DVD with 10 fan favorite episodes of this series. I've never seen it before, so this is all-new territory for me. I watched the first episode last night, "The Grim Reaper". It had William Shatner and Natalie Schaffer, aka Mrs. Howell from Gilligan's Island! Very creepy and well executed, with quite the twist-ending! Obviously in the vein of Twilight Zone, but no less enjoyable.

I'm looking forward to watching the rest.

Anyone else a fan of this series? And what can I expect from this set? Light on spoilers please!

There're about 10 really good, scary episodes--I hope they're all on your set!

The series is sort of bi-poplar: Sometimes it's an "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" rip-off.

I watch it on Me-TV often--whats' on your playlist?
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

      Episodes on this set are:

      The Grim Reaper
      Piegeons from Hell
      The Watcher
      The Hungry Glass
      The Cheaters
      The Incredible Doktor Markesan
      The Weird Tailor
      The Purple Room
      The Prisoner in the Mirror
      Well of Doom

I continue to wish we got MeTV. There is actually a station out of Lexington, KY. I think I may look into seeing if I can get it through an antenna receiver, since Dish Network doesn't carry it here.

Pigeons From Hell is a really good one, and about where the show started getting better.

          ^Yes.

It's too bad it doesn't include "A Wig for Miss DeVore", I really like that one, too.

Thriller began as sort of a crime drama but then they figured out they had Boris Karloff and should do some horror. They have some great episodes.

Watched Pigeons from Hell last night. That was genuinely creepy! Kind of shocking to see that amount of blood on TV in 1961, I'd imagine!

Edited to add: The use the term "zuvembies" in this episode. I always thought the folks at Marvel (mostly Roy Thomas) made that word up to get around the then forbidden word "zombies" in code-approved comics. Here the term is used hand in hand with "zombies". Weird!

Pigeons from Hell is one of the best, and based on a REH story.

A later episode, Parasite Mansion, has a similar Southern Gothic atmosphere.

Yeah, I caught that at the end! REH and Robert Bloch two episodes in a row...not bad.

That one sounds interesting. Looking forward to it.

I like Thriller too. I watched the run on Me-TV a few times, but I haven't watched in awhile. That Grim Reaper one is really good, as well as the one w/ William Shatner and the mirrors. There are a few more I really like, but I can't name the eps.
