Another great classic horror film I can't say enough about is The Body Snatcher. Karloff is at his finest. Of what I've seen from him, only his portrayal of the Monster can top this one. Great atmospheric film, based on a story by Robert Louis Stevenson and directed by Robert Wise. Bela Lugosi is great in a cameo role.

Great list. Just not enough time in the day.

The Toy Story special has my interest.

AMC will have new Walking Dead and should have their usual horror movie selections.

Plus the Toy Hunter monster ep.

I guess I'm one of the lone few who doesn't care for MMP. My kid didn't care for it either.

We actually plopped the kids down for movie night and watched Mad Monster Party. Can't say it was a huge winner with them (although they said they enjoyed it), but it charmed the heck out of me and the wife.

"There was nothing but a huge pile of leftovers."
"I wonder who it was was?"
    Tee hee.

Thanks for all the great suggestions everybody. Keep them coming, please!

It's hard to believe that we've already lived through the greatest horror jukebox marathons in cable history.

What started with TNT's Monstervision, (pre-Joe Bob), then shifted to AMC's Monsterfest and TCM's October offerings.

But for the past five years, it's gotten way more slasher and gore-porn with the "hey remember the 80's" run, which can't even be considered nostalgic as the actors and series are still around!

For literate, atmospheric horror, I like "I walked with a Zombie", "Cat People", & "Curse of the Demon." "Burn, Witch, Burn" tries hard & is well-cast, but doesn't quite gel and falls apart at the end.

For Price/Corman chillers. I like "House of Usher", "Haunted Palace", & esp. "Masque of the Red Death". "Tomb of Ligeia" is more leisurely but well worth watching.

And "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" is just great, great fun.

Regarding Hammer, I love "Plague of the Zombies", "The Reptile", & "The Devil Rides Out". The last is really good, if you can forgive the effects.

For streaming and rentals, I'd suggest Monster Squad, Frankenweenie and even Hotel Transylvania

Definitely, but I should have said from what TCM's showing.

Unless we go the Netflix/Amazon/Hulu Streaming route.

If you have young kids, they must watch Mad Monster Party. It's Rankin-Bass stop motion.

I watched Abbot & Costello Meets The Mummy last year. UGH...

A&C Meet Dr. Jekyll & Mr Hyde, and A&C meet The Invisible Man, are enjoyable. Not as good as Frankenstein, but the premises still work.

I'd add the Wolfman and Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein for Universal. Ghost of Frankenstein and Son of Dracula are quite good as well. The rest are fun. I like the very formulaic Kharis Mummy films.

For Hammer, I'd throw in Brides of Dracula, Curse of the Werewolf, and the Reptile of the early stuff. I'm a sucker for The Vampire Lovers of the later, more...provocative material.

Anything Universal or Hammer is the best place to start.

Hammer - Horror of Dracula, Curse of Frankenstein, The Mummy

Universal - Frankenstein, Bride, The Mummy

    Other recommendations people?
