the house of exorcism & Lisa and the Devil ?

hey guys, a friend of mine told me to watch some Mario Bava films as they can be pretty good...so I watched House of exorcism - While I did kind of liked it..I gotta ask..What the hell did I just watch? it's like both of these stories going on in there make no sense to me..I was then told that it was edited to be a exorcist knock off, that the priest parts were added later on..

has anyone seen these? is Lisa and the Devil worth watching?

I own the lisa and the devil laserdisc, though I have not watched it in years I remember liking the film. Keep in kind Lisa is also the original version of house of exorcism.

here read the first review off the imdb, it might help you decide:

So it's basically the exact same movie without the priest scenes and the exorcism right ? pretty weird

If you want to try Bavaria, start with Black Sunday and (my personal favorite) Black Sabbath.

Your friend was right-- watch some Mario Bava. But he should have given you guidance-- you don't leap in with "Lisa and The Devil". That's like starting with Hitchcock and watching "Topaz" or "Torn Curtain" as your first movies. The filmmaker was a great genius, but those are lousy movies.

Black Sunday is a great place to start, and one of the finest of all gothic horrors. Then watch the original English Language version of "Black Sunday". It's like finding a rare lost episode of "Thriller". After that, you can move on to "Kill Baby, Kill" and "Twitch of the Death Nerve" which single-handedly created slasher movies as we know it, and giallos to a lesser extent.

Athough it is much beloved, I would avoid "Baron Blood" as I find it really boring. It is said to see the great Joseph Cotten lumbering around in that movie.
