I remember watching this and agree hard to rewatch today, Especially Michael Moriarty sounding like a cheap Chrisotpher Walken. Here one I love as a kid, I also can not watch today Brumda Depth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0Kg8ZYo19w
I remember my father renting it on VHS when I was a kid. I recall enjoying it, but it featured a monster and a scene with a naked lady, so I wasn't hard to please after those requisites were met.
Q The Winged Serpent rules! True 1980s gourmet cheese!
Great stop motion monster , plus scenes actually filmed the the top of the Chrysler building. Plus Aztec sacrifice and Michael Moriarty hamming it up and stealing the movie.
It doesn't even bother me that the Aztec priest at the end of the movie looks and sounds more Gujarati than Mexican.
I remember thinking it was ok... I'd watch it again... If I remember correctly, wasn't David Carridine also in the movie? It took place in the city, and an ancient dragon or some similar monster had a nest in a tall building... and was feeding on people in the city.... or something like that... Anchor Bay released it on VHS back in the 1990's...
I remember it well. I loved this movie. It still holds up IMO.
It also was impetus for a great story:
Sam Arkoff of AIP was distributing the movie and showing it at a film festival. Rex Reed, the famous New York film critic comes up to him and says:
"Sam! I just saw Q The Winged Serpant! Boy was I surprised. There, in the middle of all this shlock-- there's a terrific method performance by Michael Moriarty!"
Arkoff replies "The shlock was my idea."
Lol!
Warm up?! We may as well sit around this cigarette!
