MUCHAS GRACIAS SEÑOR LOBO Paul Naschy Book

Matt Jaycox turned me onto this book last month when I asked him about Naschy reference materials.

Mine just arrived today and it's gorgeous, an exhaustive collection of posters, stills and promotional material and information for the films of this underrated star.

$50 is a bargain for a book this thick.

Nice, that book looks like it's chock full of awesome European poster art! If I bought the book, I'd probably want to start hunting down the actual posters.

It took me about two hours before i started hitting ebay. Bought two DVDs and then realized I was being impulsive on the posters, seeing as blank wall space is a rare commodity in the Heiler household.

The book even got praise from Caesar last night, my wife walked by and said "that's a big, colorful book!" which is a step up from "what crap did you bring into the house today?" or the old standard of "why would you want that?".

That's practically glowing praise from a wife.

There's still plenty of wall space in the Jefferys abode, but unforunately my wife has veto power when it comes to stuff like movie posters. Hell, my kids practically have veto power if they deem something "too scary". So as much as I love sleezy, exploitative horror posters, I'm kind of out to lunch when it comes to displaying them.

Yeah that's the other problem, I'm probably not going to be able to display posters with blood and cleavage in my house. MY daughter had a sleepover last month and requested I take down my posters because she thought the violence would "upset" her guests. Here are the posters in question:

Somehow the "Green Slime" poster was deemed ok.

^NICK CARDY!!! How can you take that poster down? That's like fine art.

I need to check out some more Naschy flicks. I liked what I saw once I realized we were really in low-budget territory. I expected Hammer-like, and it's more sub-AIP...but that's not a bad thing! I enjoy good cheese with my monsters.

This book looks like a beauty.

Which one is Cardy Chris, Streetfighter or SuperArgo?

Streetfighter. It's featured in Nick Cardy: Behind the Art from TwoMorrows. He basically left comics in the mid-70s and did movie posters.

Nice, I've always LOVED that Streetfighter poster (big fan of the movie too). Pretty sure that one would get vetoed.

These were both grandfathered in prior to children, hell, Super Argo predates my wife.

It is a total bargain. Surprisingly, Naschy posters are quite affordable. I own all the ones featured in my article.

The thing with posters is to rotate them in about every 6 months in simple poster frames. It keeps things looking fresh
Warm up?! We may as well sit around this cigarette!

Oh man, I really don't need to hear that many of those posters are affordable. Rotating posters is a good idea, but I'd kind of worry about causing extra wear and stress on vintage posters by continuously switching them out that way.
