I don't think it is tame at all. The original is still extremely graphic, even by todays standards. But, you are right, it is never on TV. The remake is on cable all the time and pales in comparison to the original IMO. Original Dawn Of The Dead is still thee best zombie movie ever made, both in story and effects. Tom Savini was just brilliant with his effects.
the remake is on now. I think they just don't play old movies like that on TV anymore. I know I must have seen it on TV at some point as that is probably the only way i would have seen it as a kid. I have it DVD now anyway so I can throw it on whenever I want. it is the best zombie flick ever made IMHO
Funny thing is, they show the 1968 B/W Night Of The Living Dead on TV all the time, but never the original DOTD. Hey, is it just me or was Gaylen Ross hot!!
the original Day of the Dead, the fist time I saw was on TV and I thought it was god awfull. In fact I never went back to watch it uncut until this past year when I picked uit up on bluray for like $9.00. I actually kind of liked it in it's theatrical cut. the tv version edited out so much. and in TV version I am talking probably late 80's when I saw it
That's an interesting question; considering how much the remake has been shown lately on cable. Thinkin' on it, Dawn of the Dead doesn't get much press.... but seems to be a fan fave.
I have it on DVD a big favorite. I've been to the mall. A big part of my Pittsburgh Comicon experience is taking a walk in the mall of the dead.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures
USA Network use to show Dawn quite a bit back in the day. Back when they use to show cool movies like that. AMC might have too before they started airing ads.
"We'll just fix that in post!" has always been the rallying cry for filmmakers in the middle of a troubled production. Unfortunately, sometimes things have a nasty habit of actually getting broken in post-production, usually thanks to studio interference.
