    Dracula vs. Frankenstein

If you don't see me on the boards for the next few weeks, it's probably because I am wallowing in depression and self pity. From what I can tell, the blu-ray version of my favorite low (no) budget movie has been cancelled and I have to live with the DVD!

Why, oh Why!!! I just can't understand why they don't realize how much money they could make!!!

Why was it cancelled? Rights issues or something?

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing again. About 12 years ago a friend of mine made me watch his copy. It was so horrible. Poor ol' Lon Chaney Jr. sweating alcohol, disco-perm Dracula, shoebox-head Frank...but for some insane reason I need to watch it again!

Apparently the distribution company decided it wouldn't make any money so they just released a much better DVD version. I ordered that. It was also shown on the MGM HD channel in hi def and got glowing reviews on the transfer. So the Blu-ray would have been sweet.

When it didn't come out on my birthday as promised, I started googling around and found out the company is notorious for broken promises. I went out and bought the Troma release with commentary. What is on the new DVD?

Apparently it's a new transfer that is much better than the Troma release. At least that is what everyone is saying. I didn't look into any extras on the DVD. I don't know how much a new transfer is worth it for this flick, but since I never had it on DVD (laserdisc only) I decided to give up on the blu and buy a DVD (yikes)

At this point, it would have to offer new commentary or interviews for me to budge. I don't mind the Troma print.

Tell me how the new DVD compares to the Troma.
