General Hospital?

Ok, so Im still off due to knee surgery. Yesterday I sit down to lunch and slap on the TV. It is already on a channel which has GH on. I hit the guide button to see what is on that is actually good. GH remains in the upper corner as I search. Then, something being said on the show catches my ear...the word VAMPIRE. Seems there is actually a vampire on this show. Is that true? Is this show trying to take a Dark Shadows turn?

My wife watches religously... and in turn I am updated frequently... no, apparently the guy who is the presumed vampire (who is posing as another guy because he looks EXACTLY like him) believes he is a real vampire although it is unfolding that he's just a nut who likes to kill people in the vampire style. Soaps... gotta love 'em.

Oh and pulling out all of the stops they've brought back a bunch of early 80's characters and story arc's including the love triangle of Luke, Laura and Scotty. Yeah I remember that, and yeah I just went in to way much more detail than I probably should but my wife loves me for it

^ In honor of General Hospital's 50th Anniversary they are revisting characters/storylines from the past. There was a spin-off soap many years ago titled "Port Charles" that had a telenovela approach of shorter story arcs and they introduced vampires into the mix. After the demise of the show, many of the vampire actors were absorbed by the parent show as different characters. Or are they different characters? Apparently one of the returning GH characters that was a bridge between both shows (Lucy Coe) recognizes them as their vampire selves even though they claim ignorance to what she is talking about. Is she insane or...? To be continued---

Hmmmm....

They've always done stuff like that on the soaps. My folks watched them all the time as a kid, and I remember a few far out plots from the ABC block. (That's who's got General Hospital, isn't it?) Among the ones I remember:

-escaped ape on the rampage
-the characters trapped in an underground retro tech city built by a crazy dude in the 50's
-a guy comes out of a magic space rock
-a mad scientist planning to freeze dry the world

I remember my wife was watching Days of Our Lives back in the 90s, and Deidra Hall's character was possessed by the devil and turned into a panther...no foolin'.
