Universal Monster blu-rays on sale at Amazon and Amazon UK

US Amazon has the set on sale for $70.73 (a bit more than half off). BUT, Amazon.co.uk has the set even cheaper, coming in at $42.83 US. I decided to bite (ha!) and finally get this set for that price. I even threw in the Chris Reeve Superman blu-ray set (on sale at Amazon UK for a measly $28.16) and my total with shipping still came out cheaper than if I had bought the US Uni set with free shipping.

Oh, and both sets are Region Free, so no worries.

Nice haul. You'll enjoy both sets. Those Superman films really look great on bluray. You can actually see the red in Zod uniform.

^I should have bought the Superman set as soon as I got a blu ray, but I kept hoping for a sale. It would be criminal not to own my favorite movie in the best format available to me!

The Superman set is great. The films look amazing.

I notice the limited edition Universal Monsters Blu ray coffin box set now goes for a crazy price. I should have got that when I saw it for a reasonable amount.

Great deal Chris! You'll need to give a review when you get it. Would like to know how well Frankenstein and the Wolfman look.

I saw some screen cap comparisons between the DVD and blu ray versions of these over at UMA, and the difference is startling. Black blobs on the DVD suddenly reveal lost details on the blu ray. It convinced me that I needed this set. I couldn't resist when I saw it so cheap.

I got the coffin set from the UK for about the price the US set is now. I also saved big getting the Hitchcock set from the UK. Although the UK set omits North By Northwest but I had that already.

My Blu-Rays came in today, and although I won't have time to watch any of the films for a few days, I am impressed with the bonus items in the Universal set. The book is quite nice and informative, and the poster cards are really sharp! The Superman set is also quite nice, especially since WB can be pretty stingy with their packaging. The contents seem to be almost exactly the same as the last Superman DVD set that came out when Superman Returns hit DVD.

The Superman set is great. My only quibble is that the Max Fliecher Superman toons included are not HD (although they look great).

^Ah, good to know. They really did a bang-up job cleaning up the toons for the DVD release 6 years ago. So good to finally see them bright and clear!
