Legend of Sleepy Hollow - Jeff Goldblum 1980

I found this on YouTube after searching for it on DVD for years. This was a staple of Halloween for much of the 80s, and then just disappeared.

Not as fun, or as faithful as the Disney toon, but worth a watch. It's slow, it fleshes out the story in some odd directions, but it's fun and charming, and Goldblum is the perfect Ichabod Crane. Plus you get Mr. Woodman from Welcome Back, Kotter!

I'm pretty nostalgic for it. Gives me the warm fuzzies.

No one remembers this? Am I the only one nostalgic for Jeff Goldblums neurotic take on Ichabod Crane?

Wow, NO ONE? C'mon, some of you guys HAD to have seen this as kids, right? Even if you think it stunk, chime in. No one but this guy who posted it on youtube seems to remember it but me.

Sorry, I never saw it. If a good copy ever shows up I'd give it a look for sure

A good copy may not exist. It has that "afterschool special" filmstock look about it. I thin it had it even when it was new. This youtube video looks about the same quality I recall.

Yeah, he was the utility bully character there for quite a bit.

I usually don't bump threads up like this, but it really shocks me that I'm the only one here who remembers this. We usually have an oddly shared childhood, as far as TV, movies and toys go. Even the most obscure things I've asked about here have always been answered pretty readily.

At least it has an IMDB page!

I want to say I have seen this. At one point in time did they have Gary Coleman host the opening before the film itself started? Whomever upped that video took it from a magnum vhs tape not a tv airing.

I remember seeing somewhere that it was a "Classics Illustrated" TV movie, with a framing sequence like you mention? If so, they'd cut that out by the time it hit syndication at least. I don't recall that opening.
