I view Evil Dead 2 as a remake and a sequel, it can work both ways.

I actually saw Evil Dead 2 before I saw the first one. Imagine my surprise when I found it to be pretty much the first movie, only much less funny, and actually quite scary.

I think you can look at 2 as a sequel/remake as well, IF you can accept the fact that Ash would go back to that cabin again!

I have high hopes for this remake from this trailer. Evil Dead 1 & 2 have always been among my favorite horror movies. This looks to be more like the first Evil Dead, with elements of 2 (cutting off the hand) thrown in, and with the more serious tone that the first one had vs. the comedy horror of the 2nd. I'd rather have a 4th ED with Ash, but this will do in the meantime.

Wow, looks pretty serious. They brought in the first movie's most notorious scene involving the trees I see.

Call me cynical, but doesn't that kind of look like every other horror flick made in the last 10 years?

We could use a little black humor. Maybe it's in there, but it's not in the trailer.

I'll have to wait until I get home from work before I can watch the trailer, but as a big Evil Dead and Bruce Campbell fan since the first ED film warped my 15 year old mind nearly 30 years ago, I am up for this.

I am not usually a fan of any kind of remake but I may have to check this one out seeing as how I love the original Evil Dead I will give it a shot.
