Frankenweenie is a big ol love letter to the Universal monster films and older horror flicks in general - preslasher, pre-exorcist.

It's not scary, but it really iis fun to catch the references to horror films and literature. Beyond that it's a touching kids story about a boy his dogs and his very creepy hometown. Highly recommended for classic horror geeks.

Burton did a short in 1984 but it actually used live actors and dogs. The stop-motion is fantastic. 3D adds depth. It's a fine movie. May win Oscar for best animated film.

Is it me or does Victor look too much like Victor from The Corpse Bride?

There's a definite resemblance but I think Victor may be modeled off Colin Clive as a kid.
