    War of the Gargantuas Homage

So, a while back Mikey had Posted a thread called what monsters really scared you and I mentioned in that thread that Gaira from War of the Gargantuas was the one Giant monster that when i was a kid scared me to no end. just the way he looked sounded and the fact that he actually ate people.....

I had posted that I had a dream as a kid that Gaira was in my neighborhood and he was going to eat me, the dream stayed with me for years it was so bad that I would close my windows and lower my shades and turn off the light out of fear he would see me......anyhow this movie became my all time fav Toho movie.

Not too long ago i realized that dream and finally made it into a drawing which i have posted here.....I was remembering how i loved seeing it and would watch it on WOR-TV channel 9 here in New York on the Million Dollar movie.

I was actually trying to find an old ad with it but to no avail I could not find one soooooo I decided to recreate one using old monster ads I have seen from the Million Dollar movie........

I decided to add a personal touch and use the view that I had in my dreams as a child this was the view i had from my bedroom as a child.....

    Hope you enjoy

    Steve.

My Million Dollar movie War of the Gargantuas recreation.....

Nice and Nice. I also might be able to help you find an ad for a WOR million dollar movie airing of War of the G's

I'd love to see that myself... my husband is a big fan of this flick and of Frankenstein Conquers the World. He'll get a kick out of it.

I haven't seen FCTW since they stopped giving the 4:30 movie here in NY back in the early 80's, but I did like it....it's weird that those movies are supposed to be connected....

Well, WOTG is supposed to be a sequel to Frankie, as Sanda and Gaira are clones of sorts taken from Frankie's cut off hand if I recall correctly. I'll have to ask my Toho expert when he gets home from work.

Yeah that's correct, which is funny cause in WOTG they were blasting the green one from left to right.....which for me, would have made an excuse for a sequel. more Gargantuas could show up...again I like the fact that Gaira would eat people....unlike Godzilla who would just step on you, Gaira saw you as a beef jerky......that is what scared me as a kid.....

Godzilla always struck me as Japan's Hulk. Annoy him and Hulk smash. Need help fighting off another monster, and he helps.

The DVD double feature that comes with Rodan does have have that version, in Japanese with English subtitles.

The Japanese version also have different scenes. Like when the Green Gargantua comes out of the ocean, he's shown pulling the net off himself. In the American version he just pops out.

I've also been informed that the Green Gargantua also appears in a Japanese superhero TV show, Godman... along with a few other Toho monsters.
