Yeah, that's a movie by a company called "The Asylum" about Abe fighting Zombies:

That company's business model is to quickly make low budget movies with similar concepts to big budget movies - to basically try and trick people:

Animation studios have been doing the same thing for years. Parents see ads for a Disney movie about a fish all over the place - then they see a fish movie in the Walmart DVD bin and buy it for their kid because they recognize it:

The Ratatouille rip-off called "Ratatoing" is HILARIOUS, because it seems the only thing they knew about the movie that was coming out was that it was about a rat chef. You can find clips of that on YouTube.

I remember when Good Times video would dig up some foreign version of Snow White or some such every time a Disney film was re-released on video. I recall some knock-off Hunchback of Notre Dame films as well.

I really liked the book as well which is why I'm interested in seeing the flick. As was already stated, the book is historically accurate when it discusses the life of Abraham Lincoln and slowly introduces the vampire story. I also thought it was very clever and would probably pass as believable if you have an inkling to believe that vampires exist. The movie will be really good if they are able to weave the historical elements into it but I have my doubts. The trailer makes Lincoln look like a Ninja, superhero, axe wielding phenom while in the book; it was simply his mortal strength and ability to use an axe as a weapon from using it to chop wood for his family.

^Yeah, those are my thoughts, and concerns on the movie as well. He fumbled a lot in the early stages of his hunting days in the book, and never showed any super human strength. The scene where he shatters the tree is way over the top, as is the aerial ballet.

Those Asylum movies are called "Mockbusters" and they're all just dumpster worthy...

To me, this movie is getting the same reaction another film got a few years ago... Snakes on a plane. It's just an odd title. And lots of people talked about it. But no one went to see it or liked it after they saw it. I think you can likely place this with that film. I just can't take the concept seriously. What's next? Ben Franklin meets Frankenstein?

                      Good call on that title.

The only difference is that this was a book...a well written book at that (I think even on the N.Y. Times Best Seller list for a while). It will already have a built in audience from book readers who are interested and if they try to at least keep it as close to the book as possible; it should do well at the box office. A lot of 150 year Civil War Anniversaries this year plus a blockbuster Lincoln movie being released in 2013? by Spielberg.

I should also add that Lincoln really was kind of a bad arse president. He was probably one of the most mentally and physically strong presidents of the U.S. Not a lot of people know that. He looks skinny when he was president which was probably a result of stressing out over the Civil War and barely sleeping, but look at pictures of him when he was young. He was about as tough as they come.

Lincoln was a wrestler in his youth, and entered more than a few competitions.

I like the idea of Franklinstein. The monster could fight in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, be the only survivor of the Alamo, fight in no-man's land in WWI and land at Normandy in WWII.
