I got a VHS copy of that ages ago. It is a lot of fun and actually pretty tame now by Reality TV standards.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
This would have been a big hit if it was on Fox back in the day. I can see why CBS passed on it in '93 given that their demographic was so much older back then... Diagnosis Murder, Murphy Brown, Murder Sher Wrote etc.
Now it would fit right in with such saucy suggestive humour as seen on Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, and even Big Bang Theory at times.
I'm absolutely fascinated by not only all the pilots for shows that never made it to series, but the original unaired pilots for shows that did make it to series, but were altered. YouTube is a wealth of this stuff in the past few years.
Folks should check out stuff like Black Adder, Big Bang Theory, Sherlock, Wonder Falls, Buffy, just to compare the differences.
They definitely retooled this into Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. The talking cat, the aunt. I'm betting some of the other plots were recycled.
This probably was too racy for CBS, but I do agree it would have worked on Fox...and I definitely would have watched! Even if it wasn't clever and funny!!!
I thought it was pretty good I would have watched it for sure. But it was funny seeing Mona as a different charactor I kept expecting to see Angela or Tony pop up LOL
