What movie monsters REALLY scare you ?

For me the biggest one would probably be the green Gargantua

As a kid it terrifed me and as an adult it must still subconsciously bug me because I sometimes still have dreams about being chased by it

Remember, this is NOT necessarily a what's your favorite monster thread ...

I agree Mikey, I saw War of The Gargantuas as a little kid on the Saturday Creature Feature (which was broadcast from Boston) in the 70s and it freaked me out. I was also really freaked out as a kid by Christopher Lee's Dracula.

The only other monsters that really scared me (that I can recall), was when I saw the Salem's Lot TV mini-series with Barlow the vampire and the Space:1999 episode Dragon's Domain with the alien tentacle monster (not really movies, I know)...I had nightmares about them for weeks.

          The original ALIEN(S)

They are vicious, they exist solely to kill you, they can't be reasoned with, and they are scary as hell looking.

as a kid Salems Lot gave me nightmares. Barlow was scary as hell. as an adult I found 30 days of night really scary. now, those vampires were creepy
i see a common theme here, i guess vampires scare me, at least when they are not brooding, sparkly pretty boys like that twlight garbage

Yes, that still gives me the creeps. Linda Blair in the Exorcist also gives me the willies. Seeing a little girl with that face is still very disturbing. Maybe even moreso now that I have a daughter.

As a kid I was scared senseless by Lon Chaney Jr's transformation into the Wolfman in Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein. As an adult, he's my favorite Universal monster! While he doesn't scare me, I feel Oliver Reed's werewolf in Curse of the Werewolf is the most visually frightening human-werewolf on film.

It's funny how something that scares us is most likely laughable to kids nowadays

When I was a little kid, I was always afraid of the Frankenstein monster. The close up of Boris turning around for the monster's initial reveal always scared me as a kid. I use to have trouble going to sleep at night afterwards. But it was like a car accident. You just have to look. Watching Ghost of Frankenstein really got my imagination going. Because when I realized he could be inside my walls, that just fed my imagination to new levels. I never understood how "scholars" of those films would always say children sympathized with the monster. I must have been the exception. In my mind what was there to sympathize about a creature that possessed the mind of a murderer? And in the original edited version of Frankenstein they didn't show how the girl at the pond was killed. It was suggested he thought the girl might float like the daisies. But the fact you didn't see the events which led to her drowning gave it a more sinister implication. Yeah, Franky scared the crap out of me. Of course he's also one of my all time favorite monsters too. Funny how that works.

I think our generation just had bigger imaginations. because the movies were not given all the time. we'd see it then talk about it for hours and make up our own stories about it. I remember when he ate the woman, my sister and I both were shocked and thought whoa! He's eats people! Godzilla doesn't eat people after that we both would look out the window and lower the shade.....

The Ghost-Girl in The Ring. It's a combination of how she kills people and the jump-cuts that make her move.

I can hardly stand to watch it.

As a kid, Alien was really terrifying.

What was the movie that had the freaky guy make the lady laying down open her mouth and a huge freaky spider lowered into her mouth from a web? Saw that as a kid and remember sleeping with my head under the covers for the longest time afterwards.

Linda Blair's possession in the Exorcist. I can't remember if it was the devil or a demon. Anyway, that movie really scared me as a kid and stills gets to me today..

The only movie that still really gets to me is The Exorcist and Linda Blair's possessed face.
