Snow beast (remake) on sci-fi tonight

ok what appears to be a remake of the 1970's tv film Snowbeast (a favorite of mine) is going to air tonight on the sci-fy channel at 9pm.

The plot and look of the film clearly shows it as a remake. In the trailer I saw it also seemed to still have that 70's vibe as well. Now 99% of these films on that channel are beyond watchable, but I am hoping this one turns out ok (then again going by some imdb reviews and discussions I should not have any hope for this--

different plot but along similar lines. Still bad, but at least it was watchable and enjoyable to a degree. I also like the fact that they actually used a real costume instead of this horribly done cgi crap.

I would honestly say that if this was shot on real film rather than some HD tech it would definitely have that campy B grade feel. In fact even if it used 70's style music it would have made it better overall.

Hmm a possible new project for me would be to grindhouse the **** out of this film in terms of looks and see how it pans out

the really scary part is a while back I made a "snow monster" custom figure (which I will find the links and show here) and that the monster costume in this strongly resembles what I made even down to the facial "grey' colors

      here we go

Very cool! Did you use the GI Joe Yeti as a starting point for that?

thank you. Was thinking of doing a quick diorama set up while I still have the snow outside and some fisher price adventure people with my snow beast

ok here is quick and sort of crappy diorama setup I made. It was way too cold outside to be out for very long.

*** a nice 3d one can be found in my 3d thread under the general forum

We watched it this morning after recording it. I have to agree, i enjoyed it more cause it wasn't all cgi like the usual sci fy monster movie. And both the wife and myself have a thing for crappy monster movies. It was pretty bad in some places but overall we enjoyed it. Hated the daughter though. I knew she would be fine, but dang i wanted her to get eaten.

                      Love the original

The remake was better than I expected.

Only thing I didn't like about the remake was the mask --- I can't place where, but I've seen it before (probably was retooled)

Still watchable though, and that's a lot coming from me

Here are a couple of nice shots of the beast himself from the original.

I'll try to find the pic I have of the prosthetics being applied to the guy in the suit.
                        Found it.
