The Thing --- from Another World ... question

Before John Carpenter's remake I specifically remember the classic movie The Thing from Another World (as it is refered to today) being titled "The Thing".

Of course we know the Carpenter movie is titled that today.

Did they actually change the title of the classic movie to suit the new one ?

Or is my memory slipping ?

Now that I think of it i'm wondering if TV Guide (back in the day) never used the "from another world" title in their listings and that's what i'm remembering.

It was easy to just advertise it as "The Thing". The name of the film was always "The Thing From Another World", however, it was easily dropped to just "The Thing".

Yeah, I think it started getting called The Thing for tv.
