Classic Monster Magazines

There are so many classic monsters magazines these days!

Famous Monsters, Freaky Monsters, Scary Monsters.
Which ones to pick?

Freaky Monsters seems to be totally cloned from Famous Monsters, but that's probably due to the infamous Ray Ferry?
Wasn't there a whole story to that?

I am enjoying the nice photos and more innocent style of the old days, though...

I tried the new FM but found it too much like Rue Morgue for my tastes.

Ray Ferry actually wrote a book about his experiences with the FM brand, it really slammed Ackerman. I was never really a big fan of FJA but i think the truth may be in the middle of that story somewhere...

I haven't read Scary Monsters since the 90s, I didn't love the writing.

I like Scary Monsters. Some of the writing is rough and it's more like a fanzine, but I still read it. Filmfax is fun. The new FM is ok, but just that. I love Rue Morgue.

Yeah I picked up a bunch of scans of old Warren mags, Creepy Eerie, Vampi and FaMo...Been working my way through them. Lots of fun.
