I think I would have skipped my first communion to watch this as a kid.

I just need to know if it actually has the aip dub on it like promised? I already have a nice dvd version made using the region 2 japanese dvd and that dub (along with true eng subs and the Japanese audio), but would love an actual official release

              Probably underestimated initial demand.

I really wanted this, but so far the reviews aren't looking too promising. In general, Toho's hi-def masters haven't really been that stunning. Here's one review of the DAM BD:

If you're looking for Godzilla disks, get the Master collection ones. They have both versions of the film; American and Japanese, and have tons of awesome mini-film extras.

Just a heads-up: I purchased the 2004 bluray release of Gojira and the transfer they used is lousy, full of scratches, washed-out and murky scense - especially the ones where Godzilla is stomping through the city.

In the next month or two Criterion is going to be releasing Godzilla on DVD and bluray. The product description says that it's going to be digitally remastered and have both the original and American edit of the film.

Criterion's tend to be more pricy, but my experience is they do and excellent job with their releases. Their releases of Seven Samuria, Yojimbo and Sanjuro are awesome. If you're looking for a high quality upgrade, in my opinion, this would be it. I know I'll be upgrading my copy when this comes out.

                          A tad off topic ......

I never see the Japanese version of King Kong vs Godzilla

The American version is my favorite Zilla movie

My question is ....... Did they ever make a ENGLISH DUBBED Japanese version ?

If so, i'd love to see that.

I'm not big on subtitles and could never watch a full movie with them

Oh yeah, Criterion + Godzilla should be epic. Can't wait to pick up that Blu-ray.

I'll second this! No AIP dub would equal a NO purchase.
