Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires

This move was one of my favourites in the 70's, and still holds a place in my dvd collection.

I liked the whole Vampire/Gothic Horror (Hammer) and Martial Arts (Shaw Bros.) cross over in this movie .... Plus this movie had Peter Cushing in it, "THE" Van Helsing in my opinon. Quite liked the idea of Zombie type Vampires too .

    A quick review ....

Yer, I know it's a bit tacky, but still a hoot to watch.

It's pretty good but...a combination Hammer horror/Shaw Brothers martial arts film starring Peter Cushing sounds epic. The final result was a bit of a disappointment compared to what it could have been, but I'm still happy that such a film even got made.

I have never seen it, and I'd like to. Most sources I've read blast this as a failed attempt to revive a dying Hammer, when it in fact killed it. But I'd still like to check it out!

Too bad Lee didn't play Dracula though.

It's not one of Hammer's finest but it is a lot of fun. Plus it has Peter Cushing in it.

I understand that many would say it's not one of Hammers best, I suppose many would even say it's Hammers worst, but I think that's more because it deviated too far from a tried and true formula for some people ... and if your not a fan of martial arts movies I could see that being a striaght out negative for this movie. To be honest though, no matter how much I liked certain aspects that Hammer Horror movies had ie; the women / Christopher Lee DRACULA / Peter Cushing and the general atmosphere of the films, I often found myself a little bored with the slow pace in many of the Horror films from that studio. I think that's why I like the extra action and pace the Shaw Bros. brought to this movie with their martial arts expertise.

Anyway, don't expect an epic Chis. This is more one of those movies where you just have to go with the flow.

I love this film, vampires,Peter Cushing and martial arts, whats not to like about it, also it's good to see the brothers and sister use the different martial art weapons and styles of fighting. The dude with the 2 axes was my favourite.

It's far from Hammer's worst, actually I think it's very underrated.
