I'm inclined to agree. Of course some of the kids I used to babysit were partial to Mecha-Kong.

1933, hands down. The story is amazing and moves extremely fast, no dull points. The ape is beautiful and the jerkiness of the stop motion really helps with the beleivability of a creature so huge. Dont get me wrong, I like the 76 and 05 versions too. But the original is just so far ahead of its time the others really dont come close.
The 1933 version is the best movie. I like the 76 version for Rick Bakers Kong suit. Godzilla vs King Kong is a lot of fun. Haven't made it all the way through the 2005 version yet.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
