They'd have to find someone with the same kind of acting chops as Oliver Reed had in his youth.

Personally, I really can't think of anyone, as most of the Hollywood actors are too 'pretty' for a role like this.

Antonio Banderas might be able to pull it off, he has the right kind of gravitas for it.

I just saw it for the first time last night on Svengoolie, and you're not joking--that kid looked a lot like Reed. I thought it was a great, fun film and the action scenes at the end were phenomenal; yet, there were a couple times I kind of snickered at the acting. The thing is, that 60s style of acting and writing really contributes to a lot of the charm. I can't believe it's taken me this long to see it.

One of my favorites, & one of Hammer's best. Some of the '60s Hammer output--and they are not their franchise films of Dracula, Frankenstein, & the Mummy--are really well-written & artful.

Ashton's make-up, including contacts for close-ups, holds up amazingly well.

I had not made the connection between the del Toro Wolfman & Reed's, but I think you are right.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

"Curse of the Werewolf" is one of my favorite Hammer movies. Oliver Reed and his make-up, makes it one of my favorite werewolf movies.
I also love the 2010 remake. I found Anthony Hopkin's make-up reminded me more of Reed's, than Del Toro's. Perhaps it was just the grey fur?
