    American Horror Story...On FX...?

Anybody watch the first episode of American Horror Story last night?

I watched it, and I'm just not sure where I'm at on it yet. I'm about 50/50 pro & con after episode one. The house has a rich history (not sure why people keep buying it though ) The neighbors are delightfully creepy, especially Jessica Lange's character. The maid is a trip! The daughter has some serious issues, and her new friend is a powder keg. Mom & Dad...eh, so far. The haunts as well as the previous owners pique my interest the most.

The best aspect of this story so far is that it is adult-centric, not another teen drama. Not sure why we have to see Dad's butt in just about every scene though, much less taking care of his personal business. Is this supposed to attract the ladies to the genre? Curious to see if that actually works.

I'll give it at least two more episodes to see where they take it.

    Any thoughts?

That's what caught my attention, they ran the ads at my local movie theater over the past couple of months. I had to really hunt down the air time on this, though, and even then there was no indication that the show would exceed an hour. It ran from 10:00PM to 11:15 which is really weird. I wonder if this will be the norm, or if it was just the first episode?

          strange?
the ads here on buses and pay phones are like people in black unitards doing a one hand stand off someone with a red background and ones with some lady in a weird outfit, being the support on a grass table.

Thought it was pretty good, and my wife liked it (and she is NOT a horror fan). The people on the show are all messed up, creepy, & weird. I'm gonna gove it awhile & see where it goes. Right now, I gotta say the maid is my favorite character.
They do like to use the S**T word..a LOT. And the C.S. word I've never heard on a regular TV show before! Maybe George Carlin is going to apear as a ghost!

Recently watched it. It had a real Shining-Amityville Horror-Poltergeist vibe to it. It's fairly intense for TV with some really creepy imagery and ideas. Nothing that hasn't been touched on before in films, but I've not seen a TV show broach this type of horror.

Not as bloody, graphic or campy as True Blood, but it's got me interested.

Connie Britton is worth watching in just about anything and while I like Dylan McDermott, I don't need to see quite that much of him. Thought he was going to roast his hot dog in one scene.

Jessica Lange and her daughter are a creepy pair. Who was in the wet suit (or whatever those suits are called)? And, yes, the ginger maid is quite a trip.

I don't know if the profanity would have stood out as much had it been in a film or on HBO/Showtime, but it did stand out. Seemed like they were trying to set a record for the use of the s-word in a TV show.

Definitely not a show for kids or tweens or maybe even early teens.

Okay...after second episode viewed, I'm now at a 65/35 interest level. Vivien (Mom) has grown on me a little bit, but Ben still has some work to do to bring up my interest level (why are ALL fathers portrayed as such weak weenies on TV these days?) I like Violet, she kinda reminds me of a slightly less sarcastic version of Darlene from Roseanne.

I'm really beginning to wonder what Moira and Tate are? I don't think they are mortal, but they're not exactly ghosts either. I'm not the least bit convinced yet that Larry (scarface) is mortal either.

And Constance (Lange), once again, steals the show. I'll never accept a cupcake from anyone ever again! I'm wondering if the person in the gimp suit last week is one of her other kids? Or maybe her "business" guest from this week's episode? Is Tate one of her kids? Why is it necessary for him to be treated by Ben?

Just HOW MANY people have died in this house? And what is that thing in the basement? A maifestation of the house itself, or a parasitic entity taking advantage of the haunted harbinger? The "cleanup crew" has definitely done this before...but how often, and to what end?

So many questions...I'll be tuning in again next week to see what answers (if any) we get. I have a feeling, there will be more questions than answers.

Ben was talking to Tate's family on the phone when he was dumping him as a client, for what that's worth.

And there's more coming from the dope-girl who's hair is turning white from the fear...once a snob, now she hangs out with Moira?

And sadly, no dead twin ghosts this week.

Best way to watch a show like this is to wait for the season to come out on DVD and rent it through netflix, and watch it all in one shot in a weeks time....

Thanks Johnny, I did notice that the second time I watched the episode (the first time I was focused in on what Bianca was up to). I'm thinking that Ben THINKS he's talking with one of Tate's parents. There's the (established) unholy trinity among Tate, Constance & Moira, and Tate is way too familiar with the house to have simply stumbled upon Ben's practice. Plus there is that stated "necessity" (from Moira & Constance's standpoint) that Tate continue to be treated by Ben.

Also, wondering if the "student' that Ben slept with was some sort of ghastly setup? Coincidence that she calls upon Ben on the exact anniversary of the 1968 murders thus leaving the two women alone in the house for historical accuracy?
