The old school horror host is a dying breed, and MeTV airs one of the last (and one of the best ever) in Svengoolie.

Sven was nationally syndicated for a few years way back in the 1980s!
Which is how I got hooked as a kid.
Thanks to MeTV, I enjoyed a “live” Sven broadcast after almost 28 years!

MeTv broadcasts Svengoolie hosting a Universal Classic show every Saturday night at 10pm eastern:

The fall lineup will include a Saturday Night block with Batman 7pm, Lost in Space 8pm, Star Trek 9pm, Svengoolie 10pm & Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea 12am.

i dont think hes to bad, pretty funny. really digging this channel so far. i wish they had saturday morning cartoons and also had a few minutes of retro commercials on every thirty minutes for fun. best channel ive came across in a long time

I like his format and humor, I will admit I am biased.

Caught him for one summer in Philly as a kid before he was dropped from syndication and only in Chicago market.
It was like seeing an old friend after 25 years!

But I think it's terrific that a network has given a horror host this kind of support with the time-slot, webpage and I am sure the Universal Horror library didn't come cheap!

If he is successful maybe others will get a fair opportunity.

Our RTV switched to METV this week... I'm enjoying all the shows! Can't wait to see Svengoolie for the first time! I grew up on Ghoulardi and all the Cleveland hosts, I think he will become a Saturday night staple at our house!!!

In our area, Elvira's on right after Svengoolie, b/c MeTV and our local affiliate split the time. but I love Svengoolie. I love cheesy and corny. Sometimes I have to tape them b/c I conk out early. I do occasionally watch Wolfman Mac of RTV but it's on at the same time Svengoolie is. It depends on which movie I wanna see more.

As I said, our local affiliate and MeTV split the time, and I get NO MORNING SHOWS before 10am. Flipping Armstrong and Getty is on for 4 HOURS! No Brady Bunch, Family Affair, Love American Style, none of that good stuff. And no Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea on Saturday nights. But I do have most of them on tape anyway.

Yeah, I think they only put out two DVD sets of Love American Style. Great stuff, but apparently it didn't catch on with enough people. I thoroughly enjoyed those shows as a kid. It truly reflected a special time in my life.
