Any remake is going to really need to be well written. It is also going to need to have monsters, vampires, werewolves, zombies ect, like the original. I always thought if each creature were to span 2-3 episodes, not only could the effects be better and give you more bang for your buck, you would not run out of material in one season. They could also go a differnt direction and do "The Norliss Tapes" and use Depp. The show(also a Curtis Production) was a pilot that wa never picked up and was a lot night The Night Stalker. Since it was never officailly a show, there would be not viewer attachment to a particular character.

I thought the original series came out on dvd before the cruddy remake series.

Nope.
The remake started in Sept 29, 2005
The classic series DVD was released Oct 4, 2005
The double movie was released in August 2004.

Great series , I just hope who ever does it treats it with respect.

No matter what they do though, nothing will top the original.
