Its perfection for me Iv got videos DVDs box-sets extended versions UK and USA editions its the perfect zombie flick what version do you love ? i prefer the longest version its darker and there a shorter version that is darker and more horror I love Its been shown on UK TV loads we seen it in the mid 80s as my step-dads brother had his own video shop so we got all the films out

I saw the original in the theater when it came out. I had never seen anything like that before in my life! To me, the original Dawn is the best, most realistic zombie flick ever made. The scariest part was the real people, the way they fell apart when faced with the unbeleivable.

Dawn of the dead is a master piece..use to scare the crap out of me when I was a kid...I like the remake a lot as well and Land of the dead was really good too

Dawn of the Dead is one of my all-time heavy weight champion favorite films.
I read one review online that described it as the 'Wild Bunch' of zombie films, and I think that's an apt comparison.

The openning TV station scene is so effective at creating the sense of chaos that is overtaking society.
The 'ghetto holocaust' scene that follows is so gutsy, so violent. The zombie bites in that scene are CHUNKY!
I could go through and rave about each scene in turn, but I'll spare you guys.

I have the Anchor Bay ultimate edition (4 disks) and my favorite version is still the 127 minute 'US theatrical release' version.

This is the version that was released on video here, and that I first saw when i was a teenager.

The Germans (assuming it was an official release) actually made something like this first in German Language only, however this fan based version re-did it using much better sources and in English

Karen, wasn't DOTD banned as a "Video Nasty" years ago in the UK?

I like the original and the remake. I thought the remake would strip out all the good stuff, and it did strip out a good deal of relevant stuff but I still enjoyed it.

I read an interview with Romero in the `80's, probably in Fangoria, waayyyyyy back. He said he hated the fact that people remark they would love to live in a shopping mall all by themselves. He said that was the point of the whole film but people didn't get it. From a survival point of view tho it makes a lot of sense.

Yes it was on the video nasty hit-list in the UK with loads of others Zombie 2 house by the cemetery...... loads
