    Night of the Lepus

Was watching Night of the Lepus last night on TCM.

Not having seen it in probably 30 years I forgot how bad it really was.

It's so bad it doesn't even deserve to be a cult classic

Was it REALLY ment to be a horror movie ? ... or was it ment to be tongue-in-cheek ?

I have this one on DVD, and play it every Halloween. (It's never scared anybody, but I still love it. Especially when the Lepus are supposedly killing and eating the horses.)

Be vewwy vewwy quiet. I'm hunting wabbits....

Yep, that's a real bad one. Especially the "threatening scenes" where you just see bunnies hopping along, minding their own business, jumping over the camera to make them seem "enormous".
Isn't DeForrest Kelley in that one, too?

I like how all the characters in the movie keep trying to convince the audience that the giant bunnies are scary.

There's a good lesson to be learned in there for filmmakers about the difference between how effective 'showing' is as oppose to 'telling'.

Is it as bad as "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes"?

For some reason they loaded it with mostly cowboys including Rory Calhoun, DeForest Kelley and Paul Fix

Weird combo for a horror movie

BTW, I wonder on the set if DeForest Kelley and Paul Fix both had a talk about being the Enterprises doctor ?

How this ever escaped the wrath of MST3K is beyond me.

It's been a long time since I've seen this cinematic "gem".
Time to revisit the giant rabbits, I think.

I'm hoping for a remake, lots of CG, and Vin Diesel as the lead rabbit....
