    Fright Night Remake

I know we talked about this back when it was announced, but now it's got an imdb page and everything:

    Fright Night (2011) - IMDb

Colin Farrell instead of Chris Sarandon

David Tennant instead of Roddy McDowall

Guy who played Chekov in the new Star Trek playing Brewster.

The McLovin' kid from "Superbad" playing Evil Ed.

Toni Collette has become the go-to awkward mom I guess.

The casting makes it sound more like a parody of Fright Night instead of a serious remake. For myself, the original will always be the most interesting.

While David Tennant might be interesting, there is no WAY that Colin Farrell can ever pull of the role of a vampire.

Even in a parody. He's just not that talented.

i can't wait to see this, I know the original will always be the best but it still sounds like fun....I do think Collin could pull it off, they need a good looking vampire, that's about it

I'd go see this. I've always found Colin Farrell to be slimy and creepy anyway, so this a good fit.

That kid is okay! His awkwardness is different from the Michael Cera/Jesse Eisenberg type of awkwardness.

I'm one of the biggest Colin Farrell haters in the world - then I saw him in "In Bruges" and it kinda lightened me up on him a tiny bit. Thats a really fun movie if you guys haven't seen it.

I'm with toys2cool and babycyclops - it's not like the roll requires a great thespian or anything. (I also find him slimy.)

For me this is the biggest shame about 90% of her Hollywood roles. She's so much more talented than being typecast this way.

                WHOA!!! THAT'S David Tennant????

I almost didn't recognize him with the beard and mustache!

He could almost pass for a younger, skinnier version of Roger Delgado!.

I never really took Fright Night seriously. Is any vampire movie serious? Fright Night, to me, was a parody/deconstruction of vampire films in the same way Scream was a parody/deconstruction of slasher pics. Scream's a little more self aware. I guess, but I enjoyed Fright Night more as a fan of monsters rather than slashers.

I'm interested in seeing how the film works without a direct adaption of the Roddy McDowell's TV Monster host/expert role. If I thought a Vampire lived next door to me, I'm not sure a Las Vegas stage magician would be my first call for help/adivice.

I'm a bit skeptical about McLovin pulling of his role, too. Although, he wasn't terrible in Kick *** in a similar role.

But really the inspired part of Fright Nigh to me was McDowell as the fraidy-cat vampire hunter. it was a great way to explain the conventions or rules of the vampire genre to viewers who weren't horror know-it-alls.

I think Colin Farrell is a pretty solid actor...certainly much better than journeyman Chris Sarandon.

Ugh...I'm really not digging the idea of this movie. I loved the original Fright Night and I'm tired of crappy remakes. I don't know if this will be good or bad, but I already hate the casting and I hate the changes made to the story.

BTW: I liked David Tennant as the Doctor, but as Peter Vincent?...I can't see it. Nobody can do the character justice like Roddy did.
