That's interesting, but they certainly don't need him.
I agree. It's a stunt to dRaw attention to the show with King's name -- kinda like The X-Files did when they had King and William Gibson guest write episodes (I emember thinking that they weren't as good as what the unsung writing staff was producing *every week* for Fox) and promoted the heck out of it to get the authors' fans to watch the show.
I think of The Mist as kind of a precursor to the kinds of human desperation that Darabont is handling in The Walking Dead.
Particularly the Father/Son dynamic. What's kind of neat to me is that if the show does continue for years, we're actually going to see Carl age (which was a huge problem on Lost with their kid). Given what we know of Carl's character arc in the Graphic Novel, it should be a very interesting process and perhaps much more palatable if Carl were a teenager once his um... Pragmitism fully kicks in.
I liked the Mist too, both the short story and the movie. I'm curious to see what King might do. I can imagine him picking a character or two and putting them in a situation that rounds them out. He's always good with creating three dimentional characters.
The movie ruined THE MIST for me. Nuff said. I think it will be cool to see what King does with the characters. The first short story I sold was a zombie one, so I did THE WALKING DEAD, though I've never read the comics (odd...)
Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12 https://www.facebook.com/monsterpetsbooks?ref=hl

Yeah I guess, but Walking Dead has been a runaway hit... I don't think they need to do stunts to get people to watch. Anyone King would bring to the table, is already watching.
Love Stephen King.
have yet to see the Mist, I will have to check Netflix for it.
Walking Dead is awesome, just got it on Buray and am even getting the wife into it now
