Salem's lot..... The Morgue

I can vividly remember hunkering down on the couch in utter suspense when this scene unfolded. We are talking, edge of the seat, don't even fart because I will jump out of my skin type of "rivetation" (I don't think that's a word but...) when this whole deal went down! The way they dragged this scene out has always stuck with me.

I was very, very young when Salems Lot was on TV ... Man, it Freaked Me out so Bad, I had Nightmares till I was 13.

For me it was Barrlow smashing through the window near the end. Killing the Mom and the Priest.

The scene with Barlow making his first suggested kill in that jail, still scares my two youngest kids to this day. Funny thing - their both teenagers now. They did a great makeup job on Barlow. He looks so much like Nosferatu, it isn't funny. One of my personal all time favorite horror films. The remake done a few years back with Rob Lowe didn't touch this one. David Soul is absolutely perfect in this. It's so odd too, because I never saw him do anything else after this film. That's so weird, because he was such a staple of television and movies in the 70's - A Dirty Harry movie, Starsky & Hutch, tons of guest appearances on other films, Salems Lot, and even a hit single on the radio. But when the 70's ended, his career seem to go right with it. Too bad. He was a great actor. I hope he's doing okay today. Talking about this has made me want to watch it now. Think I'll do that.

The scene that freaked me out was when David Soul's character and the kid went in to kill Barlow and you get a camera angle from the bottom of the casket to the top and Barlow just pops up...

I read the book and watch the mini-series once a year. I am about due. Great stuff

I remember when it was first on the air, and just at the last second where they're about to kill the bad guy, some jerk hacked the TV signal.

It was either that or the station cut into the broadcast for the mayoral election.

I was SO ****ed at that! I missed the climax of the mini series, and the next thing that came on was the two of them in Mexico, being hunted by vampires.

I have never seen this. I remember passing the video at one of our old rental haunts in my teenaged years. The cover was certainly very creepy. Somehow, me and my friends never rented that one.

I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about it. I really need to check this out.

I remember seeing the paperback cover with images from the miniseries. Freaked me out. Barlow with all those teeth. That will give you nightmares.

I think I was 7 or 8 when I saw this and it scared the hell out of me. Could not sleep and had nightmares about it. Barlow was scary as hell
