These are apparently being used at a second run movie theatres showing old classics.

This is the work of Tom Whalen, who does some wonderful poster art as well as other character pieces. Take the time to view his other stuff and sigh longingly.

To me they look more like labels for gourmet hot sauce

I like them, especially the 4th and 5th ones, guessing 'destroy all monsters' and 'Godzilla vs the Smog monster', the smog monster looks great! The Aliens poster works well in his style too.

Rob Kelly does some wonderful work that sometimes gets used at retro cinemas:

                  No thanks.
Not a big fan of this style of artwork.
I'm sure I'll be in the minority but if I saw this as a movie poster I'd pass.

I was going to mention Rob too. His posters would make fantastic style guide art for Universal Monsters. Imagine action figures in Rob's packages!!!

Those posters are gorgeous, but completely wrong for older films. Simply doesn't work. It's neat, but the style is not a fit with classic genre stuff.

I dunno . . . I think the Godzilla ones work -- they remind me of the opening sequences of some of those old movies, or the titles on the original Ultraman show.

Yeah it kind of reminds me of Saul Bass credits.
