That's what the survivors of this group should do. Seek out Professor Roy Hinkley...he can help develop a cure out of coconut oil & gourd goo. Oh wait...he's pitching for the walkers now...nevermind.

SO my wife asked me if they are working on a cure or a vaccine or something. I said, No. She said what ARE they doing then?
    Dying.

All I gotta say is the survival of the human race is not lookin' good, as the survivors are dying off at a much faster rate than they're procreating.

You'd think, well they just gotta hang in there and thin out the zombie herd first, but then a bus load of survivors die. And a good portion die from flu. And a load from an armed twisted psychopath's militia. And half a town. And hitchhikers on the road and/or train tracks, people squirrling up in abandoned houses....

and ONE baby, with an expiration date practically stamped on it's forehead.

Ahh human race, we hardly knew ye.

So I think your question isn't so much how did the bus load get infected, but how did they all die. My guess would be that when the bus was riddled with bullets at the end of the mid season finale, they were all hit. Doesn't seem like the bus got all that far from the prison, so I'm guessing the driver was either hit too or bailed out fast (along with any other survivors) when it became clear how many casualties were on board.
I think we have a winner of the bus question.

But after Herschel's farm was over-run they knew enough to meet back at the spot on the highway. How did the people on the bus get infected? Did I miss something or that's it-just accept it?

That's one of the things I like most about this show, average people making poor choices, bad decisions and basically tempting fate under extreme conditions.

For me, it's what ties this show to reality. Even under the best of circumstances, people don't always get it right.

In California, studies have shown that as little as 15-20% of the population is adequately prepared for major earthquakes. I find that far less realistic than a handful of exhausted refugees forgetting to dot every "I" & cross every "T".

I've enjoyed the midseason arc more than the first 5-6 episodes of this season (if not more than the entire 3rd).

I agree with that. Fun to watch, but that strained credulity somewhat I thought. What would the riot gear do other than keep the zombies from taking a bite? It would seem like the shear weight and volume of a wall of zombies would overwhelm him and he'd end up under the pile, especially not at full strength. But, oh well... It's a great show and we forgive these little inconsistencies I guess...

This second half of the season feels like the show has gotten back to form. I love all of the tension that the show has now that all of the characters have scattered. I just wasn't digging the "mystery virus" storyline back at the prison in the first half. But this feels much more ratcheted up.
