I have a real penchant for Kong knock offs, the greatest is Gorga.

This sounds like something that would show up on SyFy.

I've never seen the movie, but I had the "Famous Monsters" issue that used it as a cover story:

I'm thinking it was made in Korea around the time the '76 "King Kong" came out. BTW, Brian, that Gorga dinosaur gave me a real belly laugh. I thought it was a handpuppet at first

I'm sure that film is as bad (if not worse) than "KING KONG ESCAPES", but I'd probably watch it... The poster is kind of cool regardless of the film's quality...

And along these lines but not directly dealing with the film this thread is about: Did anyone here buy the DVD set of "giant ape" movies released around the time "KING KONG" (2005) was released... I only seen it at BEST BUY, and I think it had about 5 or 6 DVDS in it... Does this sound familiar to anyone and if so, what was it called?

Not to be confused with King Kong? They actually put that on the poster?

for records sake though the US region 1 dvd for APE is 2d, the film was originally shot and released in 3d. At least one official dvd in 3d (anaglyph) is out there (region 2 cmv laservision) and a ton of bootlegs in field sequential abound

the film is soo bad and enjoyable as hell

I had faint memories of APE because back in the 70's at Christmas time, our local firehouse used to show the super 8 (but with sound) features for everyone (mostly all monster films), until "Santa" arrived. Ape was one of them because I could recall the shark fighting scene and had always wondered just what that film was (which found out a few years later)
"What motivated him to throw a puppy at the Hells Angels is currently unclear,"

Starroid Raiders Dagon wrote "No Dime Store Monster left behind"
