To my dismay, there isn't a brick and mortar store in the country that carries this.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

Brian, let us know what you think. I'm very much on the fence about buying this. It seems like th ekind of thins I would love as an old style monster fan, but I'm hestiant after beeing burned by too many Conrad Brooks crappy movies.Mortui Vivos Docent

Will do, I've heard mixed reviews and I'm not sure the negative reviewers understand what the film is paying homage to. The original Universal Monster rallies are cheapies that are more fun than they are good films, so I wonder what folks expected.
As for the Conrad Brooks stuff, I've been warned about those.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I'm kinda wary of this. I remember being really psyched for Frankenstein vs the creature from blood cove was which was also supposed to be an homage to old Universal style monster movies. While the monster designs were pretty nice the movie was not.
I'm going to wait and see on this one. But if you guys like it I will definitely pick it up.Last edited by Werewolf; Sep 29, '10, 3:07 PM.You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. Yeah somebody sent me a disk of that, it was defective but I saw enough stripper/actresses in the extras to realize that it wasn't much of a homage. At least I think it was that movie.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I'm going to keep this totally spoiler free.
The DVD itself is sparse on bonus features. Just a trailer and photo slide show. The sound was a little tinny. But I'm guessing it was intentional. It's also, not surprisingly, in full frame.
The movie.
It was good. I enjoyed it and I was honestly a bit wary of it when I first heard of it.
They captured the look and style of the Universal "House of" movies very well with just a touch of the haunted house genre thrown in. Old school spooky and atmospheric.
The story is surprisingly good and has a few twists. Not perfect but it's well done and its heart is definitely in the right place. Certainly treats the source material with respect and throws in a lot of classic monster fan service with (Not a spoiler: They are advertised to be in it right on the box.) Drac, Frank, Wolfie and a Tor like zombie. The monster designs and make up are also quite good. They invoke Universal without totally crossing into Universal copyright territory. They are not quite there but it's still obvious who they are supposed to be. I think the wolf man design looks like a mix of the Larry Talbot Wolf Man with the Were Wolf of London
I'd recommend it to classic monster fans. Fans of modern horror probably won't enjoy it or really get it though. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. I tried "following" this film via their Facebook group.
I tried to participate in their discussions there, but never, not one post got a reply...even though it was an active discussion board.
I eventually said to hell with it, and unjoined the group.
I'd like to see this, but won't break my back doing so...maybe an iTunes download eventually.Comment

I attempted to watch the film yesterday, I was kind of hopped up on cold meds so I dozed off in the middle and woke up during the end. Over all, I enjoyed what I was watching although a couple of people in the cast gave wooden performances (sadly Ron Chaney is one of them), the dialogue is vintage so it's probably one of the reasons. It kind of felt like an SCTV sketch at times but that's actually a compliment.
The end battle between the monsters was full of action and terrific makeup, I didn't get the ending but I'm missing a lot of stuff in the middle.Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions
