    Dylan Dog Movie Trailer

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night Promo Trailer - Trailer Addict

I think I'm still going to like Cemetary Man better. Emo Superman doesn't seem like a good fit for Dylan Dog to me.

I'm barely familiar with the character, although I saw him plastered all over Italy. I like Routh more and more as an actor, hopefully he survives the super curse.

Routh was really terrific in Scott Pilgrim, particularly playing against the Superman casting type. To me Dylan Dog is a bit grittier... which is kind of funny to say now that I've just remembered that Rupert Everett was the Dylan Dog character in Cemetary Man.

Kind of like how I would have preferred Jason Statham as John Constantine over Keanu Reeves.

Probably a good thing that they opted not to use his sidekick Groucho.

The character was actually based on Everett's likeness wasn't he?

Yeah, I *think* it was a situation similar to Sam Jackson/Nick Fury, where the artist based the likeness on the actor and the actor ends up playing the character.

I'm not that familiar with Dylan Dog, but I always just assumed that "Cemetary Man"/"Dellamorte Dellamore" was based on a comic strip that appeared in that comic book. But you're saying that Everett's character actually was Dylan Dog. Has the comic been translated into English?

I found this quote on a Cemetary Man trivia site:

"Many sources incorrectly state that this film is derived from Tiziano Sclavi's comics featuring the hero Dylan Dog; it is in fact an adaptation of a Schlavi Novel (also called Dellamorte Dellamore) that does not contain the Dylan Dog character. Years earlier, however, Schlavi did base his Dylan Dog drawings on the facial features of Rupert Everett which is probably how the confusion began. An American Dylan Dog movie was developed a few years after the release of this movie, but never came to fruition"

Cemetery Man (Dellamorte Dellamore) - Rupert Everett, Franois Hadji-Lazaro, Anna Falchi, Fabiana Formica, Michele Soavi
              Cheers,

Interesting! Back in the day after seeing Cemetery Man, I had heard that it was based on a comic book and went out to try and find it, but unfortunately I did not read Italian.

When Dark Horse did finally put out their volumes and I got a chance to read them much later, it seemed like Cemetary Man was only based loosely on Dylan Dog.

I understand that following the movie, that Dylan Dog actually met the character from Cemetery Man in a strip. I don't know if that one ever got translated.

Mike Mignola did the way cool covers for Dark Horse's Dylan Dog collections.
