'76 King Kong help

Hi all,

My husband is a huge fan of this movie. So much so that he's dedicated most of his personal collecting time to it. (Famous Monsters of Filmland takes up the rest of his "me time" collecting.)

For years he's been talking about his one Grail piece... a keychain.

I'm hoping someone here may remember it and help be obtain some clues to further the search for this piece.

This is what I know (and what he remembers):

It was an official piece of Dino Kong merchandise.

It came attached to a pair of jeans. (Can't remember the brand)

You could remove it from the jeans to use as a keychain.

The keychain was a clear plastic piece that contained "actual King Kong" fur.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wow. I'm a HUGE '76 Kong ethusiast and I have never heard of that. I will start a search and if I come across anything, I will report back. The hardest thing I had trouble getting my hands on were the little Diener erasers that came out about that year. I have most of them now. I'll keep you posted on my hunt for the keychain.

^^^^Actually it looks like Sedgefield is the brand and Miller & Paine is the department store that the ad is for.

Not too long after I posted this, my husband showed me the exact ad!

Now comes the hard part... I need to find this keychain for him.

There's got to be one out there somewhere... and I need it. It'll make him happy.

And when he's happy, I can get away with murder!
