    Trilogy of Terror

One of my earliest memories was being traumatized by the little statue guy as a very young child.

Figured out it was this movie. Always curious about going back to watch it.

Rented it in college, not scary anymore but it's Richard Matheson script is still great.

I think everyone I know saw that as a kid and was left scarred.

Especially that part at the end of the last segment, where Karen Black's character has just gotten off of the phone with her ex husband, and she sits down on the floor in her bathrobe, knife in hand.

She starts stabbing the floor and smiles. With really jagged, pointy teeth, just like the little statue.

Scared me to death as a kid, let me tell you.

Ooops, sorry! It turns out she had gotten off of the phone with her mother, not her ex husband. I just looked it up on Wikipedia.

I heard a lot about it from my Monster buddies in college. I saw it as a young adult. Pretty good.

Scared the living crap out of me as a kid. Ya'know, later in life I sat down and made a list of everything that really scared me and most of it was Matheson. Twilight Zones, Omega Man, and the Zuni fetish guy. Matheson rules.

Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12

              Nyahahaaaa!!!!

Great film! This, and the anthology "Asylum" were always faves for movie night around here.

You bet this scared the "youknowwhat" out of me for the better part of my childhood. Wouldn't trade that scarring for anything.
BTW, Matheson also wrote "A Stir of Echoes", made into the 1999 movie "Stir of Echoes" with Kevin Bacon. I really enjoyed this ghost movie. Would love to read the novel.

Yep, that totem segment horrified me as a kid--about age 7?

Even the TV Guide ad, which I can still visualize, was really scary.

Now I laugh at it but as a child it left me edgy
