    Dan Roebuck — Super Collector

I'm not sure where to put this post, so Mod, feel free to move as necessary.

I spent the afternoon with Dan Roebuck today. A brilliant character actor (his character in "The Fugitive" memorably irritated Tommy Lee Jones with the word "hinkey," and in ABC's "LOST," his Dr. Arzt blew himself up with dynamite), Dan is also a world-class Monster and '60s/'70s pop culture collector.

Some collectors feel Dan may be the next Forrest J. Ackerman... here are some photos to explain why they might say that:

I have others, but these are the ones I thought you Monster fans might enjoy.

Cool! I've heard tell of the Dan Roebuck collection, heard he's a super nice guy too.

We rode an elevator together once but I was in my AJ costume (and most likely drunk) so I just stared at the floor.

He's a fan of the Mego book, believe it or not. I met him at a toy show with Rob, a few years back, and he knew me from the book. I reconnected with him, now that I also live in Burbank. His house is uh-may-zing, as you might suspect.

@Brian, He is definitely one of the sweetest, nicest guys you will ever meet.

I knew he was a fan from Michael Eury's Captain Action book. He had a Dr. Evil costume professionally made, mask and all! He's also in the special features documentary on the Groovie Goolies DVD. Although he's a fine character actor who brings a lot to a role, no matter how big, I still think of him as Matlock's sideckick! My parents watched that show religiously.

That is awesome Ben! Thanks for sharing. I smell a new book...

Dan has since dismantled the Dr. Evil 'statue' that appears in Michael's book, but the head (sculpted by Dan's brother-in-law, I believe he said), still sits atop the case with all the Capt. Action goodness.

My brain is still trying to process all that my eyes saw today.

No, that's just the smell of stinky monsters.

Dan is a really nice guy and has an amazing collection. He recently directed an eight minute documentary on those wonderful Imagineering Halloween novelties from the 1970s. A really nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Dan's a great guy and a fixture over at the Universal Monster Army. I can't believe that sometimes I email and trade with the guy that played Jay Leno in The Night Shift (a really great movie about the first late night show wars).

What a thrill is must be to be able to see that collection in person! I'd have to pick my jaw off the floor!
