I hate it when they take a name ("Godzilla"), then change everything, and expect fans to love it. Godzilla became a success due to some very specific concepts (his shape, movements, his personality). You can put your own twist on it (for like 20%), but you need to keep at least 80% of the original. GINO (Godzilla In Name Only) threw away everything but "giant lizard". His shape, style and personality were all changed.
That's like remaking Star Wars, but giving Darth Vader yellow armor, a wickedly cool sense of humor, and a tapdancing routine.

The more recent Toho films showed us you can update, use CG, get more action, and still remain true to the concept. If you want the respect of the fans, you need to respect the original idea.
I ma a huge Godzilla fan and was so disturbed about this movie, until I saw it, then my complaint was "why didn't they name this something else, because it COULD have stood on it's own. I believe this would have been wildly popular had they done so. Probably would have had a sequel or 2.....

      Me too ...
I thought for once, Godzilla was cool. Can't say I care for much else either.

Me too! It reminded me of the old Monster Movies...like "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms". Never like the Guy in the silly Rubber Suit Godzilla.
