It just comes down to what you are exposed to as a kid. I'm sure today a lot of kids haven't seen the classic Universal Monster movies. They are just not on TV like the used to be when we were younger. (We also got exposed to these great monsters in the Abbott and Costello classics that used to show every weekend in the NY metropolitan area.) So unless their parents own the DVDs they think the vampire/werewolf genre started with Twilight.

It definitely isn't a ripoff but I would also say that the Twilight series has re-created an interest in vampires and werewolves so if the movie is riding Twilight's coattails, so be it.

It isn't a ripoff, just taking advantage of an opportunity.

I find it hard to believe that was real. It had to have been a prank. I hope it was a prank.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Man, the time is ripe for old school vampires and werewolves to come back and wreak havoc amongst the teeny boppers. None of them will know what to do.

Twilight got ripped off, huh? Well it must be true. Kids that age know everything. I know I used to. Then I got older and dumber.

If it's a prank, it's a good one. But I've known some kids that were that stupid so it's easy to believe.

I know a lot of ADULTS who are equally clueless. I think Carlin said it best when he summated that we don't get senile as we age; instead, a lot of us START OUT stupid, and it continues through out lives.
