Anybody see this movie about Nazi zombies?

Even though it has a good atmosphere, and pretty grim, I still feel it fell short.
Why do they shoot at the ghosts, as they are, you know, ghosts?
They say the machine brings back the ghosts. Then how come the Nazi head honcho is in the bunker (physically there), before the machine fires up?

I think they though: "Nazi zombies!, cool!!"
A real script didn't really materialize, apparently.
