Sherlock Holmes 2009 movie

Well I saw the movie and it does Depict Holmes pretty accurate to the Writings of Doyle.

He was a Good Fighter, Did use drugs and lived a bohemian lifestyle. His flat in the movie is accurate to his character.

I didn't mind the reinvention Of Dr.John Watson as now he's closer in age (in the Movie) and is seen more as a contemporary rather than a scruffy old man.

Watson was portrayed younger in Young Sherlock Holmes.

The film kept my interest as Characters from the books appeared Irene Adler who in the SH books is described as the "Woman" is accurate in her depiction....his deductive reasoning is accurate also in the movie......

Defo an A minus Downey was Fabulous and he and Law had great chemistry......if you see it on Dvd you will miss out it's better to see on the big screen.

I hate Guy Ritchie...nothing but a full of himself, pretentious director...and this is a Guy Ritchie flick...I'll pass.

I saw it tonight. I've read everything that Doyle wrote using the detective, so I guess I could be called a pretty big fan (certainly no where near some people). I'd read enough about the movie to know that it wasn't like what I read (Downey's comments aside).

I tried to go in with no preconceptions and just enjoy the movie for what it was. And I found that I really enjoyed it. The series with Jeremy Brett is my favorite interpretation, but I really liked this one's as well. Looking forward to the (what seems) inevitable sequel.

I thought the movie was pretty good. I went today while my Wife took her niece's to see the lastest Alvin & The Chipmunks movie.

I found the characters closer to the book so I enjoyed that. Don't get me wrong, I am totally a Basil Rathbone Sherlock fan. I thought the time went back extremely fast. The interaction between Sherlock and Watson was nice. Both characters played against the other really well. The purpose of going to the theater is to be entertained.......I felt that the movie did it's job. A nice bonus was getting to see the preview for The Wolfman!!!! Bring it on Benicio!!!!!!

All in all a good and enjoyable movie. However, I was a little bored in spots. Not planning on buying the blu-ray when it's available.

Well that could be your loss. I just read a report on this film in one of the UK newspapers from a critic who is usually reluctant to say anything is good and yet he gives this film 5 stars out of 5 but does say that the film and characters could have been called anything and it would still have been a good film, it was only called Sherlock Holmes in order to sell it.

I really enjoyed that, I haven't seen many Sherlock Holmes movies or read a story, so this is all kind of new to me.

Me too. I read all the stories and saw a few of the films and TV series and I'm a fan of what I think is Sherlock Holmes, but I'm no scholar.

There's a difference between being a good fighter and a bone crushing street thug, which is how Downey depicts Holmes.

I really wanted to like this movie, but I left the theatre disappointed. Holmes should be a distinguished gentleman, a scientist, not a streetfighter, a common barroom brawler who practices black magic to solve a case.

I saw it over the weekend, and I'm not sure how he "used black magic" to solve the case. Didn't he debunk all the black magic (used by the villain) at the end?

I thought the movie was watchable but forgettable. Without Downey and Law (both of whom were very good), it was a toss-out.

Slick and sexy. Even the poster just says " HOLMES" but as there are many versions of Batman we get many versions of Holmes.

Does he ever wear the traditonal outfit in it? I dont watch previews.

No he does not but his Clothes a very Stylish
